The Dead Daisies performed in Los Angeles on 8/25/2017 as part of their “Dirty Dozen US Tour”8/26/2017 The Dead Daisies are coming off an early summer tour that saw them playing in Europe. What has been dubbed as “The Dirty Dozen Tour”, it has played to selected US cities. On this night it hit the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. The group has been playing clubs and theaters in August in support of their new live album “Live & Louder”. It was released on May 19th, 2017 to fantastic reviews. (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/live-louder-live-version/id1219352423) The current lineup (John Corabi on vocals, Doug Aldrich on lead guitar, Brian Tichy on drums, Marco Mendoza on bass and David Lowy on rhythm guitar. They are an exceptionally talented group of musicians. They bring the fun back to rock and roll with their crowd interaction. Singer John Corabi works the crowd with his joke cracking and continued encouragement for audience participation. The set started off with “Long Way to Go”. From then the band moved through “Mexico”, “Make Some Noise” and “Song and a Prayer”. Several other songs included their take on some classic covers like “Fortunate Son”, “Join Together” and “Helter Skelter”. Brian Tichy performed a kick ass drum solo following “Last Time I Saw the Sun”, which was reminiscent of those performed by some 1970’s era arena rock bands. Following the main set the band returned for an encore of a song they recently released video, “We’re An American Band”. “Midnight Moses” concluded what was an amazing night of pure rock and roll. If you know anyone who continues to communicate the phrase “Rock is Dead”, I fully recommend you to take that person them to a Dead Daisies concert. I guarantee they will have second thoughts about uttering those words for a long time. 'On August 12th we were on hand for the opening night of the Spend the Night with Alice Cooper co-headline tour with rock legends Deep Purple. It took place at The Chelsea Event Center at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, NV.
Alice Cooper is so much more than just an awesome rock concert; it's a fantastic theatrical show as well. He still controls the stage like it was 1973. Backed by an incredible band, Alice's voice and his theatrics push the evening’s show to its full potential. Having three phenomenal guitar players (Ryan Roxie, Nita Strauss and Tommy Henriksen) allow for a multi layered sound to recreate the original studio tracks flawlessly. He also has one of the best rhythm sections in rock with Chuck Garric (bass) andGlen Sobel (drums). Opening the show was “Brutal Planet”, and then came a barrage of non-stop hits like "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Poison", "Only Women Bleed" as well as many of his classics like "Billion Dollar Babies", "Under My Wheels" and “Cold Ethyl”. New music included the song “Paranoiac Personality” from the newly released CD entitled “Paranormal” which includes appearances by his original Alice Cooper band mates. The album can be purchased here:https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/paranormal/id1245405140 He's such a consummate showman with a flair for the theatrical that it makes it hard to be let down. I've convinced people who weren't fans to go see him and they walked away amazed and surprised at how great the show truly is.
