Nita Strauss, the Los Angeles-based guitar shredder for the ALICE COOPER band, has been named the first-ever female Ibanez signature artist.
She says: "After years of dreaming, hoping and working, followed by months of planning and preparation, I am honored and proud to introduce my signature guitar, the Ibanez JIVA. This beauty will be sold worldwide and comes equipped exactly how I play it live, including brand new signature DiMarzio pickups meticulously designed by yours truly. "When I had my first meeting with Ibanez in September of 2008, they asked me why they should add me to the artist roster. My (typically emotional) answer was: 'All my heroes are Ibanez players. It's a dream come true for me to just come and meet you guys. If you don't want to give me an endorsement, I'll still play my Ibanez guitars proudly, but it would be a huge honor to join the family and represent the company officially.' "They took a chance on a basically unknown girl from L.A. (I was actually the only girl on the USA roster at that time) and coming up on my 10th amazing year as an Ibanez artist, words cannot express how honored and thrilled I am to now join the ranks of my greatest heroes as a signature artist." Nita told Guitar Girl Magazine in a 2017 interview that she started playing guitar when she was 13 years old. "I played drums first, and I was just no good at all," she said. "Then I switched to bass, and I wasn't any good at that either! I'm still not. And, finally, I picked up the guitar and it just stuck. My first guitar was a $99 Squire Stratocaster and I think it came with a little amp and a songbook and some guitar picks and a capo and a slide and a cable and a whole bunch of accoutrements. It was the cheapest little guitar and I played it for years. I didn't have anything nicer for a long time. I was just so passionate about learning and playing and getting better. And then, of course, as soon as I got nicer guitars, I was like, okay, this is a lot easier to play fast. I remember when I picked up my first Ibanez, I was, like, 'Why didn't anybody tell me that I should be playing this the whole time?' As soon as I got my first Ibanez, I just never played anything else — my blood bleeds Ibanez. I have no bargaining power with them; they know that. It's like if you tell a guy you love him right away when you've been dating, which is actually what I did in my relationship too, it just takes away all the power. It's like I love you, then you have no mystery, no build-up, no nothing! There's no suspense. Just like you're stuck now. And I'm happily stuck with both my relationship and my guitar of choice." Strauss made her name with THE IRON MAIDENS, FEMME FATALE and LA Kiss prior to hooking up with Cooper. Nita joined the legendary rocker's band in 2014 as the replacement for Orianthi. Former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent was joined by his ex-VINNIE VINCENT INVASIONbandmate Robert Fleischman earlier today (Saturday, January 20) at the Atlanta KISS Expo2018 to perform an acoustic version of the VINNIE VINCENT INVASION song "Back On The Streets". Video footage of the impromptu performance can be seen below (courtesy of Mike Brunn and Talking Metal).
In his first public interview in more than two decades, Vincent told SiriusXM's Eddie Trunk on Friday that he still feels "very strongly" about the two VINNIE VINCENT INVASION albums he released three decades ago, 1986's self-titled effort and 1988's "All Systems Go". However, Vinnie said that "the second record should have never happened. Rob [Fleischman] should have stayed with the project. The basic sound of that record was like [Jimmy] Page and [Robert] Plant — it was Rob and me. That first record was pretty red-hot. It was my vision; Rob singing; everything was just right. Second version of it should have been aborted, should have never happened. I had the power; I should have taken it. I should have called the shots, which should have been, 'Stop this. Revamp it. Go back, let me get the people I need.' The people that were involved with it at that time should have not been involved with it, but it was such a publicity machinery piece of... it was like a product. It was all publicity and hype. The songs, I felt were really good, but I didn't feel the music came out to be... the records weren't what I would have done. I would have never settled on records like that. When I say records, the first one, yes; the second one, no; and that singer [Mark Slaughter, who sang on 'All Systems Go'] was unbearable as far as I'm concerned." Vincent told SiriusXM that he has accepted the invitation to appear at Gene Simmons's Nashville stop of the KISS bassist/vocalist's promotional tour in support of his box set, "The Vault", which will take place on April 14. Vinnie joined KISS in 1982, replacing Ace Frehley. As the "Ankh Warrior," he toured with the group in support of "Creatures Of The Night", on which he played lead guitar on six songs prior to becoming an official member of the band. From there, KISS wrote and released "Lick It Up" — their first album without makeup — in 1983, a recording on which Vincent co-wrote eight of 10 songs, including the title track, which remains a staple of the group's live performances to this day. Despite the album's success, Vincent was fired by KISS after the "Lick It Up" touring cycle came to an end, allegedly due to a dispute over both the terms of his employment contract with the band and royalties. From there, Vincent founded VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, which recorded the aforementioned two albums. In 1992, Vincent re-teamed with KISS principals Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to write three songs for their acclaimed album "Revenge", including the record's first two singles, "Unholy" and "I Just Wanna". Their relationship quickly soured once again, however. Four years later, Vincent released a solo EP, "Euphoria", which featured vocals by former VVIsinger Fleischman and included material from sessions recorded around 1990. Soon after that, Vincent vanished from the public eye and remained off the grid for more than two decades. In recent years, Vincent has been the subject of a number of rumors about his gender identity, including that he has been cross-dressing and that he has undergone a sex change. Last year, Vincent was the focus of a Swedish TV documentary called "KISS Och Gitarristen Som Försvann" ("KISS And The Guitarist Who Disappeared") which apparently tried, unsuccessfully, to track Vinnie down and get him to sit down for an interview.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JANUARY 16th, 2018
The future of rock radio is online at http://KBACK.rocks. When the #1 rated rock station in Sioux Falls abruptly pulled the plug without warning last September, the core nucleus of the staff decided they weren’t ready to be quiet. Crash, “Crazy” Frank Anderson, Jeff “The Rev” Koller and the “Metal Cowboy” Ron Keel rallied and made a commitment to keep the music and the mayhem rocking and rolled out a new station – KBACK – on a new platform: the internet. They quickly made the transition from hired guns to owners and managers of the new station, and began broadcasting online November 19th. Their legion of loyal listeners immediately logged on and started rocking out, making KBACK one of the top-rated stations on the LIVE365 streaming service and mobile app with over 12,000 Total Listener Hours the first month. From humble beginnings in one of the DJ’s basements, the operation has now relocated to the heart of downtown Sioux Falls with state of the art studio offices in the 8th & Railroad complex and will commence airing live shows on January 29th. Crash and Crazy Frank kick things off weekday mornings at 7:00 AM, with Keel clocking in at 10:00 AM, and The Rev taking it home from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. The keys to KBACK’s success are in the playlist and the personalities – a diverse catalog of over 6000 songs from the 60’s to the present day, and on-air talent that keeps the listeners engaged both on the radio and in the community. Interaction is a priority, whether it be on the phone lines, on social media, or at gatherings like the regular KBACKer’s Ball events the station is hosting at local venues. The mission and the motto – “You’re our people, and we’re your radio station” - remain the same. “We developed a tight relationship with our audience over the past couple of years on the previous station,” Crash explains. “And when the signal went silent, we missed them as much as they missed us. Now we’re back, and we’re going to rock online and party every day.” The audience aren’t the only ones on board – advertisers like the Deville-Wegner Realty Group, Hoy Trial Lawyers, Hydra Beer Company and Bigs Barwere among the first sponsors to invest in the new brand. The first KBACKer’s Ball event, held on a Tuesday (the day after Christmas in sub-zero temperatures) brought out a large contingent of listeners to Bigs and the group plans to keep throwing these parties once a month, in addition to a “Live Launch Celebration” February 1st at the Hydra Beer Hall downtown. KBACK intends on connecting Sioux Falls to the rest of the US with locally focused programming on a nationwide scale, and they are committed to participate in as many charity functions and entertainment events as possible. “Yeah, our names are on the paperwork,” Ron Keel says, “but the only people who really own a radio station are those who listen to it. We want to thank KBACK Nation for the loyalty and support and we promise to keep working hard to entertain you.” LISTEN ONLINE AT KBACK.ROCKS - ON THE FREE LIVE365 MOBILE APP - AND ON TUNEIN RADIO FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
