Well, no time like the present to release the new Helix song "The Devil Is Having a Party Tonight". I was going to release it on Canada Day (July 1st for those who are not Canadian) but Lynda pointed out to me that the long weekend might not be the best time as everyone will be away from their computers.

We're asking fans to support us by picking up the new tune. I'm also working on putting together a vinyl release which should be out in a couple of months. It will have "The Devil Is Having A Party Tonight" on Side A and "The Tequilla Song" on Side B. That song I wrote with Gord Prior and Steve Georgakopoulos, who I co-wrote THE POWER OF ROCK AND ROLL WITH. The record will be album size even though it's really a single. 

I should also mention here that Brent Doerner (former Helix guitarist and the guy who's been doing our videos for a couple of years now) is putting together a video for the song. He already has over 60 hours into it. It should be ready by next week. At first we wanted to coordinate the release of the song with the video with the listing on CD Baby, but Kaleb suggested to me that it was actually better to have different releases on different days to help keep the profile of the song up. For instance, today we're releasing the digital download for sale and for fans to listen to. Next week will be the video. Some time over the next month we'll be releasing the Tequilla Song as well, and then around September the vinyl should hit. I find it all exciting (no shit) even after all these years. I think the Helix catalouge is now around 160 songs. 

The song "The Devil Is Having A Party Tonight" stays in the tradition of past Helix tracks which I describe as "heavy metal pop." From as early as 1983 we've been writing heavy songs but with sing along choruses. I think our "direction" was determined by those years of playing the Canadian bar circuit, where you had to be a travelling Top 40 jukebox to survive...But Helix always liked and played the heavier stuff like Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. So instead of playing "Taking Care Of Business" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" we were playing stuff like "Dog Eat Dog" and "Cat Scratch Fever." While it doesn't seem too radical now, back in the late 70's we were about the only band on the circuit playing these kind of tunes.

Dirty Thrills formed after a drunken night of jamming in a quiet village pub in Wiltshire, but what started out as an inconspicuous session swiftly birthed an ambitious group with the drive and determination to bring the glory days back to the rock scene. Having released and toured a self-titled debut record in 2014, the band recently signed to Frontiers Music Srl and played the UK's Camden Rocks and Wildfire Festivals in June as part of the build-up to their new single, “Law Man”, which Louis James describes as a song "about one man's fight for freedom, only to be struck down by a figure of austerity." They will also be performing at Ramblin' Man Fair in late July, while a full UK tour will follow the mid-September release of their brand new album, Heavy Living, which was recorded at Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield, Monmouth and produced/mixed by James Loughrey (The Darkness, Skindred, Sumo Cyco).

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Hell In The Club is a killer hard rock/heavy metal band. Jack Russell's Great White will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Great White's hit album Once Bitten, with a tour and new acoustic album, Once Acoustically Bitten. The acoustic album will be released on July 14th and the band will kick off their US tour on July 6th. They will stay on the road through summer and into fall playing songs off their new acoustic release, the multi-platinum Once Bitten album and, on some shows, the entire Once Bitten album from start to finish.

Before the tour kicks off, the band will be previewing material from the upcoming release on June 29th - the original release date for Once Bitten - at Guitar Center in Los Angeles. Fans will be able to watch the entire performance on Facebook live at 7 PM, PST on the band's Facebook page. A week later they begin the tour in Kansas and will hit cities across the US including Fort Collins, Pasadena, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and more. Tour dates are all listed below. "The Once Bitten album for me was the album that finally put us in the musical space that I felt the band should be in," says lead singer Jack Russell. He goes on, "We had been searching prior to that...our first album was kind of similar to Judas Priest and our second album was very keyboard heavy. On July 21st, Swedish rock ‘n’ roll legends, Europe, will share their unique 30th Anniversary performance of The Final Countdown from London’s legendary Roundhouse.


The Final Countdown 30th Anniversary Show - Live at the Roundhouse celebrates the multi-platinum album’s triple decade success. The band played the album in its sequential entirety at a series of selected cities in 2016, with London’s most historically venerated venue playing host to an exceptionally special night on November 12th 2016, which was captured by Patric Ullaeus from rEvolver Film Company AB.

Preceding the landmark event, fans were also treated to a live performance of Europe’s latest album War Of Kings, a release which re-established Europe as one of the top classic rock bands in the world.
“What an awesome night! It was more enjoyable than we thought to revisit the whole Final Countdown album live! On top of that, to be able to share our whole War Of Kings album with this amazing audience the same night just made this show one of the most memorable nights of our career,” says Europe vocalist Joey Tempest.

Off the back of their Heavy Fire album and UK/European tour, Black Star Riders have announced a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment.


Formed in 2012, Black Star Riders signed their first contract with Nuclear Blast Entertainment in the same year. Under the banner of the independent label, the band released three albums: All Hell Breaks Loose, The Killer Instinct and Heavy Fire.


Black Star Riders latest album, Heavy Fire, gained worldwide success reaching #6 UK in the National chart, #11 in the German National chart, #91 in the US Current Top Albums.
